The Best Use of Photography (formerly called Picture Editing) Quarterly Clip Contest is designed to promote excellence in newspaper photojournalism through excellence in picture editing. Entries will be judged for their content and for the visual presentation of that editorial material.
A contest designed specifically for television visual editors. Upon completion of the contest year, the editor who accumulates the most points shall be named NPPA Cutting Edge Editor of the Year.
An all-digital online contest conducted in collaboration with CollegeFrontPage.com. Entrants are awarded points toward the annual Student Photographer of the Year competition, which runs during the US school year (September-August).
The Quarterly TV Clip Contest is switching to a new judging framework that is designed to promote more equal competition than we’ve had in the past. Entrant pools are now based on physical geography and station merit, rather than geography alone, and the geographic regions are much broader, offering a richer pool of entries and a more even balance between regions. Plus, in recognition of the changes in the industry, a new Quarterly News Video contest has been added for Solo Video work.
Note: members can only enter one of the Quarterly News Video contests each quarter. Each entering journalist must choose the contest that best suits his or her talents and working environment.
A contest recognizing outstanding TV photography from NPPA members. Competition is divided into three regions based on geography, and each region is divided into two pools based on station merit.
The new TV Quarterly Clip Contest replaces the old TV Quarterly Clip Contest based on the NPPA membership regions.
A contest recognizing outstanding TV photography from solo video journalists, one-man bands, and backpack journalists.
