Beginning in 2006, the NPPA will accept video clips for publication on www.nppa.org. Initially, priority will be given to clip contest winners, both for the TV Photography and TV Editing contests. In the future, we hope to accept a broader spectrum of video clips for publication.
Individuals or organizations wishing to submit video clips to be featured on the NPPA website must first prepare those clips according to the following specification. The NPPA cannot accept raw tapes or DVDs: the video stream must be prepared by the individual or organization making the submission.
Video clips should be encoded as MPEG-4 files (.mp4), compressed using the MPEG-4 Part 2 Standard, with specifications as follows:
Note that Windows Media (WMV3) files are technically not MPEG-4 files. If you submit a Windows Media file, it may not play back in MPEG-4-compatible players such as RealPlayer or QuickTime: by submitting Windows Media files, you will be limiting the audience who can view your clips.
Final file sizes should be in the range of 3-5 MB for each minute of video. So a 10-minute clip would be 30-50 MB
