DURHAM, NC (September 1, 2005) - The 2005 NPPA Flying Short Course continues the tradition of nearly five decades of delivering education and inspiration to photojournalists across the country, only this year the Flying Short Course breaks with tradition and takes on a new format that’s intended to bring even more educational and inspirational benefits to attendees by offering two full days of events at each FSC stop.
This year the 48th annual Flying Short Course will visit Boston University on September 30 and October 1, the University of Texas at Austin on October 1 and 2, and the University of Oregon at Eugene on October 1 and 2. At each stop there will be one day of presentations by the national Flying Short Course faculty and a second day of hands-on sessions and multiple workshops taught by regional and local experts, with topics such as location lighting, digital imaging, remote transmitting, and Web presentations. The variety and depth of workshops will be rewarding to photographers, editors, and other visual communicators at any career stage.
The 2005 Flying Short Course national traveling faculty includes NPPA Newspaper Photographer of the Year Jim Gehrz of the Minneapolis Star Tribune; 2005 Pulitzer Prize-winner Deanne Fitzmaurice of the San Francisco Chronicle; Bill Marr, an associate editor of National Geographic magazine; two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Michael Williamson of The Washington Post; freelance photojournalist and editor Dave Einsel; and Brian Storm, president of MediaStorm.
