Annenberg Foundation Grant Funds POYi Program In Los Angeles
COLUMBIA, MO (December 22, 2008) – Pictures of the Year International at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism has received a $75,000 grant from the Annenberg Foundation to support a two-day professional development program along with a three-month photography exhibit in Los Angeles.
Director of Pictures of the Year International Rick Shaw said the grant will allow POYi to host its 2009 awards ceremony and education days in Los Angeles at The Annenberg Space for Photography in July 2009. The two-day event will feature speakers, workshops, POYi's 2009 awards ceremony, and launch the opening of an extended three-month exhibit of winning POYi photographs and digital displays in Annenberg's gallery space.
POYi is a program of the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute, founded in 2004 with a $31 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation and based at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism. The Annenberg Space for Photography is a new 10,000 square foot facility on the Avenue of the Stars in Los Angeles that's in its first year of operation and was funded by the Walter H. Annenberg Foundation.
