Bill Eppridge To Speak At WKU, Mizzou

BOWLING GREEN, KY (January 29, 2009) – Legendary photojournalist Bill Eppridge, who has shot for Life magazine, National Geographic, and Sports Illustrated, covering stories as wide-ranging as the Beatles, Apollo 13, the war in Vietnam, the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s, the eruption of Mount St. Helen's, Olympic games, and the presidential campaign and assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, will speak about his photographs and experiences to the Western Kentucky University community next week.

WKU photojournalism program coordinator James H. Kenney said today that Eppridge plans to speak about his time with Kennedy on the campaign trail in 1968 and that he will discuss his book, "A Time It Was: Bobby Kennedy in the Sixties."

Eppridge's talk is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2009, at 8:30 p.m. at the MMTH Auditorium on WKU's campus.

Kenney said that Eppridge will not have his books on hand, but that he will be happy to sign copies of his book that students might bring to the talk.

Last year Eppridge talked about his coverage of RKF's assassination to Baltimore Sun photojournalist Christopher T. Assaf, who produced a multimedia piece about the photojournalist.

Eppridge's appearance before the WKU photojournalism community is being underwritten by Nikon Professional Services.

The photojournalist will also make a similar presentation to photojournalism students at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism in Columbia, MO, on February 11, which is also sponsored by NPS.
