DURHAM, NC (February 3, 2009) – Tim Hussin of the University of Florida has won the National Press Photographers Association's 2008 College Photographer of the Year title.
Hussin won the news category in the fourth quarter of the contest to secure the win, ending the year with a point total of 438.
Daryl Peveto from the Brooks Institute of Photography finished in second place with 318 points, and Andrew Link from Winona State University finished third with 248 points.
The winning images are online at http://nppa.collegefrontpage.com, and more of Hussin's photograph is on his Web site at www.timhussin.com.
Hussin is in Gainesville, FL, getting ready to head to Washington, DC, for an internship at National Geographic magazine, a slot he won by winning the University of Missouri School of Journalism's College Photographer of the Year title last November. He's also going to do an internship at washingtonpost.com, an opportunity he won during the Eddie Adams Barnstorm Workshop last October.
Hussin, who joined NPPA in 2006 and just graduated from the University of Florida in December, says that while he's thinking about his internships first he's keeping his eyes open for job opportunities afterwards.
