NPPA On Facebook, Twitter

DURHAM, NC (February 19, 2009) – Jim Straight, the executive director of the National Press Photographers Association, wants NPPA members to know that the organization now also has an online presence on both Facebook and Twitter.

"We see the importance of connecting with the online community of professionals, students, professors, businesses and the general public who practice or are interested in visual journalism," Straight said.

"NPPA is doing a lot of work advocating for journalists as well as reporting on a lot of the breaking news in our industry. Being on Facebook and Twitter are just two more ways to get the information out to people. It also gives people a chance to connect back to us and to network with each other. In this challenging environment, strength in numbers is a must – and we are trying to encourage that sentiment. We plan to do more in the coming year, but Facebook and Twitter were the natural first step."

For more information on the National Press Photographers Association (www.nppa.org) contact Straight at director@nppa.org or membership director Mindy Hutchison at members@nppa.org.
