Andrea Bruce Wins WHNPA Top Honors

 

WASHINGTON, DC (February 23, 2009) – Andrea Bruce of the Washington Post has won the Photographer of the Year title in the White House News Photographers Association's "Eyes Of History 2009" contest.

Dai Baker of ITN was picked as the contest's Video Photographer of the Year, and Bill McKenna of BBC was picked as the contest's Video Editor of the Year.

Charles Ommanney shooting for Getty Images for Newsweek was picked for the Political Photo of the Year, a very quiet picture of President-elect Barack Obama waiting, with his eyes closed and a meditative look on his face, to step out on the Capitol steps to begin his inauguration to then become the 44th President of the United States.
