Goodbye To The Best Job In The World
DALLAS, TX (April 24, 2009) – For those who've been around newspapers long enough to remember what a darkroom smelled like at the end of the night, what a Pica pole was supposed to be used for, and what those staff farewell parties used to be like in the 1970s, you won't want to miss reading Randy Eli Grothe's goodbye note as he leaves The Dallas Morning News.
And read closely to make sure you take note of his former boss's career advice. Who among us hasn't been there at some point?
A senior staff photographer at The Dallas Morning News since 1975, the Pasadena, TX, native is a graduate of Texas Christian University with Journalism and English degrees. In 1983 he won a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for his reporting on the disadvantaged after writing and photographing a story on a group of wheelchair-bound mountain climbers.
Grothe's blog entry, "A Farewell Worth Signing Off With," is online here on the DMNcuts Web site.
