Photometadata Seminar On Thursday In San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, TX (May 26, 2009) – Greg Smith, chair of NPPA's Business Practices Committee, invites photographers to the free getMetaSmart tour on Thursday, May 27, in San Antonio, TX, the tour's second Texas stop.
"No serious photographer should miss this opportunity to learn both the basics and the nuances of embedding and reading photo metadata," Smith said.
San Antonio's event on Thursday begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Southwest School of Art & Craft in the Russell Hill Rogers Lecture Hall. It's free, but you must register online for the event.
"If you already know how to embed your creator, caption and copyright information in your images, you have a head start over some others," Smith said. "But do you know which information to put in Object Name and Title in Photo Mechanic? Do you know how those fields will read in Photoshop's file info? Do you know how and why to explain to your clients and stock distributors how to preserve your carefully entered metadata? Do you know how to avoid stripping those data yourself when building a web gallery? Do you know Aperture treats metadata very differently than does Lightroom? Top experts on the subject will be on hand with carefully prepared presentations. These events will offer a lot of value for a price you can't beat."
Working under an award from the Library of Congress and supported by industry partners, the Stock Artists Alliance Photo Metadata Project is promoting industrywide use of standard photo metadata in every digital image file.
"You'll also find free food and drink, along with an opportunity to network with your local photographic community. Seats are still available at these important, evening gatherings," Smith said.
More information is available online at www.photometadata.org.
