Call For Applications: 2010 Gordon Yoder/NPPA NewsVideo Workshop Award

 

DURHAM, NC (January 15, 2010) – The National Press Photographers Foundation (NPPF) is accepting applications for the annual Gordon Yoder award for television photojournalists who wish to attend the NPPA NewsVideo Workshop in Norman, OK, from March 14 through 19, 2010.

The $1,000 award, established by G. Gordon Yoder, is designed to help cover tuition and expenses for the Workshop.

To be eligible, applicants must have at least one year of working experience in video journalism.

Deadline for applying is January 31, 2010.  Submissions should be in digital format and will be sent by FTP.

Yoder was a combat correspondent-photographer in Korea and a television network photojournalist covering news including the civil rights movement in 1950s and 1960s.  He designed and manufactured the innovative 16mm Yoder Sound Camera, which became the standard for television stations and networks. He was honored with the National Press Photographers Association's highest honor, the Joseph A. Sprague Memorial Award in 1994.

Carrie Kohlmeier was the winner of last year's Yoder Award.
