White House News Photographers Pick Top 2010 Winners

 

WASHINGTON, DC (February 14, 2010) – Chip Somodevilla of Getty Images is the 2010 White House News Photographers Association's Photographer of the Year in the still photography division, "Eyes Of History 2010" judges determined over the weekend.

And Bethany Swain of CNN was picked as the WHNPA Video Photographer of the Year, while ITN's Chris Shlemon was picked as the Video Editor of the Year.

In another of the WHNPA contest's top honors, Alex Wong of Getty Images was selected for having shot the Political News Photo of the Year for his image of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner testifying before the Joint Economic Committee on Capitol Hill.

And Katie Falkenberg won first place for her portfolio of still photographs.

In the contest's New Media category, NPR's David Gilkey won first place for "'America's Battalion' in Afghanistan," which was edited by Laura Krantz and Jim Wildman and produced by Keith Jenkins.
