Nominate A Colleague For NPPA Honors
DURHAM, NC (April 13, 2010) – Every year the National Press Photographers Association honors those who have supported the organization, assisted photojournalism and photojournalists, or have contributed to our profession.
"Now is your chance to honor a colleague for their work," NPPA past president Tony Overman said today.
"I encourage everyone to nominate as least one deserving colleague. There are 17 different awards that encompass every aspect of our profession. There are spots for everyone, from editors and educators to business leaders and non-photographers. No deserving person or organization should be left out."
As the organization's past president, Overman is the chairperson for NPPA's Honors & Recognition Committee.
The winners of NPPA's honors and awards are selected from people and groups nominated by organization's members.
To nominate a candidate, please visit the Honors & Recognitions Web page at www.nppa.org/about_us/honors_and_recognitions/
"You can click on each award for a description and to see the list of past winners," Overman said. "Click on 'Nominate An Award Candidate' and select an award, then provide the name, eMail address, and phone number for the person, as well as a brief description of why this person should be considered. We especially encourage nominations for those who have not be honored in the past."
Nominations must be received by May 1, 2010. Winners will be honored on July 10 during the NPPA Sprague Awards ceremonies at Convergence’10 in Charleston, SC.
Overman can answer any questions about a nomination or the process and welcomes your eMail at pastpresident@nppa.org.
