Nominations Open For NPPA's Board Of Directors

DURHAM, NC (June 29, 2010) – NPPA's Governance Committee is accepting nominations for two seats on the NPPA National Board of Directors, national secretary Denise McGill announced.

Nominations are open through August 31 and the elections take place in November.

Please submit names to Denise McGill at secretary@nppa.org. Members may nominate themselves, McGill said.

Two of the six (6) seats for Elected Directors will be decided in November. They are currently held by Michael P. King and Merry Murray-Rogers, who are both eligible for reelection.

Elected Directors serve staggered three-year terms, so that two Directors are elected each year. Because the Board is transitioning to a new at-large system, the two seats expiring now were only one-year terms.

To be eligible for office as an Elected Director, the nominee must be a Professional or Student Member in good standing for at least one year prior to being nominated. Directors are expected to attend at least one Board meeting a year, held in January in Durham, NC. They should also plan to serve on at least one national committee, and other duties as needed, McGill said.
