Steve Raymer, Sean D. Elliot, Appointed To NPPA Ethics Committee

DURHAM, NC (June 9, 2010) – John Long, the chairman of the Ethics Committee for the National Press Photographers Association, today announced the addition of two new members to the panel.

"Joining NPPA’s attempt to foster honesty and protect the credibility of photojournalism are Steven L. Raymer and Sean D. Elliot," Long said.

"NPPA has long believed that defending the integrity of photojournalism and the credibility of all journalism is of paramount importance to all of us in the profession," Long said. "Promoting ethics is one of the prime missions of NPPA."

"Raymer is professor of journalism at Indiana University, and he's been a staff photographer at National Geographic magazine for more than 20 years. He was named the NPPA-University of Missouri Pictures of the Year Magazine Photographer of the Year in 1976, and he's been an outspoken advocate for integrity in our profession for many years," Long said.

Elliot is the chief photographer for The Day in New London, CT, and he's currently NPPA's vice president and a member of the organizations executive committee.

They will join Long, an NPPA past president who has chaired the Ethics Committee for the past ten years, on the panel beginning immediately.
