| Biographical Statement | I was taught the craft of photojournalism by 12 great photographers at "The Daily Press" in Newport News, VA. I was hired there as a lab tech and spent 2 years learning from those around me. I spent 2 years as a lab tech, when I was hired as chief photographer at a small daily in South Arkansas "The El Dorado News Times. I was then hired by Gannett spending six years at "The News Star” in Monroe, LA and another5 years as chief photographer at "The Wausau Daily Herald.”I was injured on the job basically ruining my career. My basic journalism philosophy is look watch and listen to the community around you. I believe in a straight on approach to my photographs, making them non opinionated with to low of an angle and keeping the horizons' straight. With today’s multi media approach I still believe in "edit, edit, edit!" The reader does not need to see every frame a photographer takes while doing a story. If you are shooting video the straight on approach is still the best along with editing to the bone! View my site at www.jdhump.com and you can see my approach to photojournalism. | ||
