- Keep your head up
- Keep your equipment clean and in good repair
- Send out your freelance bills on time
- Never punch an editor
- Always stop and make the picture - you can't file what you don't have. There is a good shot in every assignment
- Use fill flash a lot
- Understand the story
- Get to know the reporters - even the ones that smell funny
- Eat a good breakfast because you never know when you'll get lunch
- Carry lots of film, batteries, pens and notebooks
- Always look back and remember what a great job this really is. And never listen to old guys like me when we whine, because we're just tired for a while and need to sit down. We've had too many incredibly good times and really we're just longing to have them a little more often and sometimes it makes us sad when we can't - all things are relative.
