Airborne TV 2008 Seminar

Presented by the National Press Photographers Foundation

The 2008 Airborne TV Seminar is heading for Wichita, KS on October 17 and 18, and Portland, OR on October 18 and 19, 2008. Critiques are on the first evening and the seminar is the following day.

Anyone who tells stories with video is invited to attend the day long program. This includes TV photographers and reporters and newspaper video journalists. There will be breakout sessions for both photographers and reporters and critiques (DVD only) at both stops.

Faculty & Staff

Shawn Montano
is the 2008 NPPA Editor of the Year and also the 2002 EOY. Shawn has first-hand experience with the “tough times in TV land,” being laid off soon after winning the EOY. He’s now at KWGN-TV in Denver. His awards include three Heartland Emmys, two Colorado Broadcasters Association Awards, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award and numerous national NPPA Awards. He’s also the Director of the NPPA Cutting Edge Editing Seminar.
Deborah Potter
is the Executive Director of NewsLab (www.newslab.org), an online resource center for journalists in Washington, DC. Deborah leads workshops for journalists across the United States and around the world. She was a past executive director of the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation and spent more than 20 years in TV news, including 16 as a network correspondent for CBS News and CNN.

, director of the Airborne TV Seminar, is news operations manager at WISH-TV, Indianapolis. A past president of the NPPA, Sweitzer is a former Indiana TV News Photographer of the Year.

Peter Rosen
is a feature reporter at KUTV in Salt Lake City. He won this year’s NPPA Photojour- nalism Award for Reporting and has received several Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards. He reports and edits.

is the NPPA Photographer of the Year for a second time. He is also co-chair of the NPPA’s TV Quarterly Clip contest and is now working at KTUU in Anchorage, Alaska

Fees

  • $45 for NPPA members, and photographers/reporters accompanied by an NPPA member
  • $55 for non NPPA members
  • $30 for students
  • $10 late fee will be added for registrations received after October 5th.

Stations sending five or more people pay only $40 per person.
