Kimoi Kotich, a Kenyan immigrant, tended by Theresa Szkromiuk was one of 19 people who died of AIDS related causes at Joseph's House in 2008, a hospice for homeless men and women afflicted with the disease. According to the D.C. Department of Health's HIV/AIDS Administration, the death rate among the homeless is seven to nine times higher than that of the general population.
