NPPA Announces Partnership With Digital Railroad
DURHAM, NC - The National Press Photographers Association announced today that it has chosen Digital Railroad, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based application services for the professional photography industry, as its exclusive partner for online delivery and distribution technology services. This partnership will provide new programs and unique services for NPPA's nearly 10,000 members, allowing them to leverage critical online workflow tools to efficiently manage and sell their images to photo buyers around the globe.
"NPPA is excited to offer increased services to our members because of this partnership with Digital Railroad," said NPPA president Tony Overman. "We appreciate Digital Railroad recognizing the strengths of NPPA, and the value their service can offer our membership."
Through a series of co-produced educational seminars and workshops at NPPA events such as the Flying Short Course and Women in Photojournalism Conference, Digital Railroad will be joining NPPA in its mission to keep its members educated and informed about the technical, copyright and business issues that impact their careers.
"Digital Railroad is committed to helping photographers improve their businesses," said Evan Nisselson, Digital Railroad CEO/Founder and a professional photographer. "We're excited about our partnership with NPPA and the opportunity to provide nearly 10,000 photographers with the tools they need to be more successful. Digital Railroad's innovative services are designed to maximize photographers' sales opportunities while minimizing costs and production time."
NPPA will be leveraging Digital Railroad's unique technology platform to manage the "Search NPPA" photo archive, affording photo buyers access to thousands of images from some of the world's leading photojournalists. The partnership will also enable NPPA's members to take advantage of Digital Railroad's services at discounted rates.
Free Educational Seminars
As part of the new relationship, NPPA and Digital Railroad will be providing photographers with a series of free educational seminars called “Digital Workflow Solutions.” The first two free workshops hosted by NPPA and Digital Railroad will be Monday, October 9, in Austin, TX, and Thursday, October 12, in Santa Fe, NM.
Ric Kasnoff, the senior director of professional imaging, will present the sessions for Digital Railroad.
The Austin and Santa Fe seminars are free and open to the public as a courtesy of NPPA Region 8 and Digital Railroad. At both sessions there will be drawings for door prizes, and those who register for a free 30-day trial Digital Railroad archive will be entered into another drawing that’s at the end of the series (with prizes including camera equipment, digital archive management software, and free Digital Railroad service subscriptions).
The programs with start with a discussion about effective and efficient digital workflow, and what to keep in mind as photographers develop workflow, and a detailed look at the currently accepted "best practices" for each step of the process. Kasnoff says there will be plenty of tips and reference sources provided during the program.
The seminar will also explore how a photographer’s workflow can easily integrate with Digital Railroad's online delivery and distribution tools. Kasnoff says the integration will “help lower your frustration level and raise the quality of service you can provide to existing clients, while giving you the tools and technology to help you reach a broader audience.”
The evening will also feature an overview of the new NPPA/Digital Railroad partnership and a review of benefits and discounts available exclusively for NPPA members.
The session in Austin, TX, on Monday, October 9 is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the University of Texas School of Journalism in the Jesse Jones Communication building’s Auditorium, 2504A Whitis Ave.
The session in Santa Fe, NM, on Thursday, October 12 is from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Santa Fe Camera Center, 851 St. Michaels Drive.
Kasnoff, the leader of both sessions, has more than 30 years experience as an award-winning editorial and commercial photographer as well as having been certified by Apple and Adobe as an Expert and Instructor in many of the current professional level Digital Imaging applications. He will use examples of his and other professional photographers’ “real world” experiences to illustrate the digital workshop concepts he will present during the evening.
