Nominate A Peer For NPPA's Awards, Recognition

Dec 12, 2012

DURHAM, NC (January 9, 2013) – For more than 65 years the National Press Photographers Association has honored those who have supported the organization, assisted visual journalism and visual journalists, or have made significant contributions to our profession.

"Each year we ask members and non-members alike to honor a colleague for their work or contribution to the profession," NPPA past president Bob Carey said today.

"I hope that you will please take the time to nominate as least one deserving colleague. The NPPA has 17 different awards covering wide aspects of our profession – including editors, educators, business leaders and non-photographers. If you know a deserving person, please do not leave them out."

As the NPPA past president, Carey is the chairperson for the Honors & Recognition Committee.

To nominate a candidate, please visit the Honors & Recognitions Web page. NOTE: 1/16/2013, NOMINATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR YOUR NOMINATIONS!

"I want to encourage members to click on each of the awards, read the description, and look at the list of past winners," Carey said. "Then from the main page, click on 'Nomination Form” to provide the name, eMail address, and phone number for the person, and select the appropriate award from the drop down menu. You will need to provide a brief description of why this person should be considered. We especially encourage nominations for those who have not be honored in the past."

Nominations must be received by January 15, 2012. Winners will be honored on March 9, 2013, during an awards reception at the Northern Short Course in Elizabeth, NJ. Details about the Northern Short Course can be found online at nppa.org/nsc.
