DURHAM, NC (December 18, 2012) – Dorothy Edwards of Western Kentucky University has been appointed as the new student representative to the NPPA's board of directors and Student Committee, committee chair Bettina Hansen announced today.

Edwards is a photojournalism and Spanish student at WKU and has interned at the Flint Journal in Flint, MI, and the Grand Forks Herald in Grand Forks, ND. As a Florida native she grew up mostly in the Southeast, with the majority of her life spent in Kentucky. Her first love is still photography, but she is beginning to explore her interest in video and multimedia documentary.

"Dorothy's work is visually strong, and she is a hard working student who is well-networked in the photojournalism community," Hansen said. "She comes to NPPA with great recommendations, a strong voice to advocate for students in the organization, and will also be contributing to the Visual Student blog."

Edwards' photography can be seen online here.
