Indiana TV Photojournalist Leonard Judd, 55

EVANSVILLE, IN – Retired WEHT-News25 television photojournalist Leonard Judd, 55, died Sunday while on vacation with his wife in Colorado, the Evansville Courier & Press reported today.

He was with WEHT since 1975 when he joined them as a photographer. Judd was named chief photographer in 1985. The station says he retired in 2003.

Judd was known for his work on a popular feature called “Back Roads,” a recurring segment about rural life that he did with Hal Wolford, a former Channel 25 reporter. Wolford says in the Courier & Press story that they produced a story a day, five days a week, for about 12 years.

Also remembering Judd in today’s story was WEHT anchor Brad Byrd, who said he remembered how Judd would strap himself to the station’s helicopter and lean out the side to get a better shot.

The cause of death was not available. The newspaper said that funeral arrangements are pending.
