NPPA's 2012 Business Blitz Roadshow stop in Austin starts Friday evening with socializing, a State of the Industry roundtable, and a showcase gallery of winning images from our Best of Photojournalism contest.
The event Friday night is at CTC Garden,1102 E. Cesar Chavez Street, Austin. Beverages will be served and one of Austin's new eating traditions, a food trailer from Cazamance, will be on-site. The event begins at 6 p.m. The evening is free, but online registration in advance is required.
Saturday's program will be atSt. Edward's University'sMain Building in the Maloney Room on the third floor. St. Edward's is at 3001 S. Congress Street, Austin. The program of speakers and sessions begins at 9 a.m. Saturday's program is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Registration is open online now.
Saturday's speakers include LUCEO founding member Matt Slaby, photojournalist and attorney Alicia Calzada (a former NPPA president), PhotoShelter vice president Grover Sanschagrin, Avi Gupta of US News & World Report, and veteran photojournalist Kevin Moloney.
Friday night's roundtable panel includes ZUMA Press founder Scott Mc Kiernan, Austin photojournalist and multimedia producer Julia Robinson, Austin American-Statesman staff visual journalist Kelly West, New York photographer Harrison Funk, and San Antonio-based photojournalist Mark Sobhani.
