Ferraiolo will be working from Rome in conjunction with The Townsend Group, the advertising agency in Chevy Chase, MD, that represents News Photographer magazine and the NPPA in the United States, to expand the magazine's advertising sales and editorial reach into Italy and Europe.

"We're thrilled to have European advertising representation, and to welcome Bianca to the NPPA family," Townsend Group president and CEO Holly Townsend said today. "European advertisers with an interest in marketing globally to the world's top visual journalists will find Bianca knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with."

NPPA's executive director Chip Deale believes that European-based visual journalists have a strong interest in what NPPA stands for, and in what the organization has to offer.

"Establishing greater visibility in Europe with News Photographer magazine aligns with NPPA's mission to advance the profession of visual journalism," Deale said today. "News Photographer, with its solid educational and informational content, is an ideal channel for fulfilling that interest. Bianca is highly-qualified and well-positioned to maximize NPPA's presence on the continent, and especially in Italy, with companies who are eager to advertise their products to this important market."

News Photographer and NPPA are media partners in Italy with Shoot4Change.net and the Cortona On The Move international photography festival.

News Photographer magazine has been the voice of the visual journalist since 1946. NPPA is among the oldest and largest associations of visual journalists, advocating for freedom of the press in all its forms for over 65 years. The magazine supports NPPA in its role as the voice of the photojournalist by communicating news, identifying trends, delineating issues, and providing information, and recognizing the work of photojournalists. The columns and articles that appear in the monthly magazine are often cited as “the authority” on topics ranging from law and ethics to technology and perfecting the craft of visual journalism and storytelling.

NPPA's Web site was revamped in 2013, including redesigning its wireframes to accommodate bigger advertisements, providing NPPA's advertisers with more exposure than ever before.

In addition to the monthly News Photographer magazine and the NPPA Web site, each December the magazine is a special publication that features the first-place award-winning photographs and picture stories from NPPA's annual Best Of Photojournalism contest. In page after page of photography layouts, images from the Photojournalists of the Year, Sports Photojournalist of the Year, and the winner of Cliff Edom's "New America Award" are showcased. Special advertising opportunities exist for the December issue, including Cover, Wrap-Around, and Mailing Wrapper exclusives.

Advertising packages and individualized campaigns created by The Townsend Group give News Photographer's clients the ability to customize a digital, Web, and print advertising crusades to meet all needs. And now Ferraiolo will bring these opportunities to European advertisers and clients from her base in Rome.

Ferraiolo has been the communications and information regional manager for FAI Lazio in Rome (a cultural heritage national trust), and the editorial coordinator and communications manager for the Associazione Amerigo's alumni magazine. Her work history includes public relations, staging live events, and working as a forensics researcher for the Carabinieri, the prestigious national military police of Italy. A graduate of the Universita degli Studi di Roma La Sapienza, Ferraiolo also speaks Spanish, German, and English.
