The NPPA/NPPF COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund opened for applications this morning, and will remain open through Saturday, April 25 at noon EDT. We received over 200 donations, totaling over $34,000 — including a $5,000 donation from SONY Corporation and many very generous individual donations.
The Emergency Relief Fund is an initiative by the National Press Photographers Association in partnership with the National Press Photographers Foundation, our 501(c)(3) sister organization, in an effort to raise funding for NPPA members facing dire financial situations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is meant to provide a small amount of one-time support to NPPA members who need immediate assistance — there are no restrictions on what the funding can cover: it can be healthcare, childcare, rent, or professional expenses.
Who can apply?
Only current members of the NPPA, whether staff or independent, who can demonstrate they derive their primary income from photography, can apply. The application will ask basic questions such as how you have been impacted and basic documentation of canceled assignments; professional references; social media handles and/or a website.

NPPA and NPPF want to thank the SONY Corporation and the individual donors who made this COVID-19 Relief Fund possible. The donor names are listed here.
