John Moore Wins Picture Of The Year In China Contest

ATHENS, GA (March 25, 2015) – Getty Images photojournalist John Moore has won Picture of the Year in the 11th annual China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP) contest for his image, "Ebola Overwhelms Liberian Capital."

The prize includes 100,000 RMB (approximately $16K USD) and a round-trip to China to acccept the honor. 

Photogrpahers from 26 countries were awarded 68 prizes in this year's competition. The results were relased today by contest judge Frank Folwell, a member of the board of directors of the National Press Photographers Foundation who was invited to judge the CHIPP contest.

Hu Dongdong won first place in Daily Life (Singles), and Simon Moricz-Sabjon won first place in Daily Life (Stories). 

Valery Melnikov won first place in War & Disaster News (Singles), and also won first place for War & Disaster News (Stories) for coverage of the conflict in the Ukraine.

Daniel Berehulak won first place in General News (Singles) for Ebola coverage, and Moore won first place in General News (Stories) for his Ebola coverage.

Shao Quanhai won first place for Science, Technology, and Culture (Stories), and Siegfried Modola won first place for Science, Technology, and Culture (Stories).

Nikita Dudnik won first place for Nature & Environment News (Singles), and Ulet Ifanasti won first place for Nature & Environment News (Stories). 

Joerg Mitter won first place for Sports News (Singles), and Jordi Perdigo won first place for Sports News (Stories).

Yanyan won first place for People In The News (Singles), and Thomas Lekfeldt won first place for People In The News (Stories).

Zhang Yujie won first place for Portraits (Singles), and Li Fan won first place for Portraits (Stories).
