(ATHENS, GA.) During its board meeting on Sunday, the NPPA Board of Directors issued a call for nominations for the volunteer position of Secretary. The Secretary serves on the Executive Committee which meets every month and acts regularly on behalf of the Board of Directors between full Board meetings. In addition, the Secretary is responsible for serving as a custodian of NPPA records and preserving the integrity of the bylaws and policies and procedures as well as assisting in drafting resolutions and other written business of the NPPA.
Nominations should be sent to Immediate Past President Melissa Lyttle via email at [email protected] and may be sent to her up until the time of the election, which will occur at a date which has not yet been determined but will be on or after Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Check back here for updates when the meeting date has been scheduled.
Nominations may come from members of the Board of Directors, or any life, professional or student NPPA member in good standing. Candidates must be members in good standing.
Former secretary Andrea Wise recently resigned her post due to competing professional obligations. NPPA President Michael P. King expressed gratitude for Andrea’s work on the board. “Andrea is incredibly committed to making the visual journalism industry an inclusive and safe place for all people, and as a member of our Board she helped us make some very important improvements to the association,” he said. “I look forward to working with her on these fronts as I’m sure NPPA and Diversify Photo will collaborate on many initiatives well into the future."
