DURHAM, NC (Sept 11, 2013) – The National Press Photographers Association is accepting nominations for candidates for its Board of Directors and regional officers until September 30, NPPA national secretary Michael P. King announced.
Two seats on the Board of Directors currently held by Bethany Swain and Sean Towle will be vacated at the end of the 2013. Swain and Towle are allowed to run for reelection, King said. There are a total of six elected directors serving staggered, 3-year terms. Two seats are up for election each November.
Additionally, members in Regions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11 will choose their Regional Chairs and Associate Regional Chairs. These regional officers are elected every two years: elections for even-numbered regions are conducted in even-numbered years, while elections for odd-numbered regions are conducted in odd-numbered years.
Members will be able to vote online for these positions at nppa.org during the entire month of November. Candidate bios and statements will be posted well in advance so members may make informed votes.
NPPA members interested in running for any of these offices may nominate themselves by contacting King at [email protected] Members may also nominate others.
To be eligible for election to the Board of Directors or for a regional office, a member must be an NPPA Professional or Student Member in good standing. For more information contact King or see the Web site here.
