DURHAM, NC (July 15, 2013) – The annual summer meeting of the National Press Photographers Association's board of directors took place over the weekend, and NPPA's leadership welcomed to the board five new directors who were not on the panel the last time the group met in January.
New board members Brad Pfranger and Rick Green were sworn in during Saturday's meeting. Directors Stacy Pearsall, Mark Anderson, and Greg Smith had already taken the oath in April when the board met to elect Mark Dolan as the organization's new vice president.
"We got to know each other better and got everyone up to date on the business of the NPPA for the first half of 2013," NPPA president Mike Borland said. "With five new faces on the board it was good to have a session like this to help the new members get acquainted and learn how the meetings work."
The board "didn't spend any [new] money or raise the dues," Borland reported. The majority of the meeting was spent listening to reports, he said, with some time spent in executive session.
In other recent NPPA news, Greg Smith has been appointed to the post of NPPA's Business Practices Chair.
