DURHAM, NC (July 15, 2013) – There will be a special edition of the National Press Photographers Association's "Business Blitz Roadshow" held in Chicago on July 31 for all of the Chicago Sun-Times photojournalists who were the victims of the newspaper's mass lay-off in May.
The "Sun-Times Lay-Off Edition" of NPPA's Business Blitz Roadshow is tailored to all independent photographers who would like to learn how to succeed as business owners.
But all photojournalists in the region are welcome to attend as well, not just former Sun-Times staffers, NPPA executive director Mindy Hutchison said today.
Sessions hosted by NPPA's Business Practices Chair Greg Smith and Alicia Calzada, a photojournalist and lawyer, and others will deal with contracts, copyright, the cost of doing business, pricing and negotiating, marketing and branding, and finding a future.
And you don't need to be an NPPA member to attend.
NPPA's Business Blitz Roadshow in Chicago will be held at Calumet Photo, 1111 N. Cherry, and the program begins at 9:30 a.m. on July 31. Online registration is free and available now, and advanced registration is required so that organizers can plan with a headcount.
