HARTFORD, CT (May 17, 2013) – John Long, a National Press Photographers Association past president and the chairman of NPPA's Ethics and Standards Committee, will be inducted into the Connecticut Journalism Hall of Fame on May 23.
Long retired from the Hartford Courant in 2006 after 35 years as a staff photojournalist. He was NPPA's president in 1989, and in the early 2000's Long spearheaded a re-writing of NPPA's Code of Ethics to bring it into the digital era. He received NPPA's highest honor, the Joseph A. Sprague Memorial Award, in 2007, and is considered to be the leading voice in visual journalism ethics in America after his decades of journalism experience.
