Minnesota journalists’ lawsuit/ settlement update: As we have previously reported, there has been a settlement agreement related to the mistreatment of journalists by members of the Minnesota State Patrol.
We are revamping our venerable clip contest, the Monthly News Clip Contest (MNCC), which has existed for decades — possibly since 1964. We want to acknowledge and express appreciation for the volunteers who do the heavy lifting that goes into all of the NPPA contests. We are at a juncture to facilitate technical efficiency and desired growth in the MNCC.
After the Arizona legislature has passed a bill that would make it unlawful for a photographer to record a police officer within 8 feet of the officer without permission, NPPA has written Arizona Gov. Douglas A. Ducey, asking him to veto the bill.
NPPA was joined by the Radio and Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press (RCFP), the Press Freedom Defense Fund (PFDF) and the twenty-three other organizations.
The NPPA Student Video Contest provides eligible members with an opportunity to compete with their peers and have their entries reviewed by working professionals. Student members may submit video clips for eligibility. This competition was created as a stepping stone to our professional TV contest.
May 2022 - The National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) sent a letter to the University of Georgia Board of Regents and new Chancellor Sonny Perdue in support of the UGA journalism faculty, staff, and students who have made clear their desire to de/rename their journalism school.
