NPPF Scholarship Application Deadline Is April 15
DURHAM, NC (January 28, 2013) – The National Press Photographers Foundation has opened its scholarship application period for this year, and you do not have to be an NPPA student member to apply.
The deadline to apply for one of the NPPF $2,000 scholarships is April 15, 2013.
NPPF extended the deadline this year so that students might be able to include new work created during this spring semester in their scholarship application portfolio. A panel of professional photojournalists will judge the applications.
To qualify, students must be enrolled in school during the next fall term to receive a scholarship. Both graduate and undergraduate students may apply.
NPPF scholarships are awarded to encourage those with talent and dedication to photojournalism who need financial help to continue their studies. The awards are directed to students who are studying full-time or who are returning to college.
The Bob East, Reid Blackburn, Bob Baxter, Kit C. King, and Jimi Lott scholarships are endowed by donations from friends, family and news organizations.
The G. Gordon Yoder Television News Workshop Grant was funded by a gift from television news pioneer and former NPPF board member G. Gordon Yoder.
NPPF provides funding for the NPPF Still and Multimedia Scholarship, the NPPF TV News Scholarship, and the College Photographer of the Year International awards through donations from NPPA members. The NPPF Booster Club, made up of NPPA Life members, has provided significant funding over the years.
