ATHENS, OH (January 29, 2013) – Washington Post photojournalist Michael Williamson tonight will speak to Ohio University School of Visual Communications students about his career, his new book "Someplace Like America: Tales From The New Great Depression," and 15 years of documenting poverty and homelessness in America during the inaugural Morris Berman Lecture Series.

The Morris Berman Lecture Series is sponsored by the National Press Photographers Foundation and hosted tonight by VisCom. Berman was a past president of the NPPA as well as the Press Photographers Association of Greater Pittsburgh. Before his death in 2002, he had attended all of the NPPA's annual conventions.

Today the photojournalist appeared on WOUB's podcast "Conversations from Studio B" and the program is online for streaming or download here.

Williamson received the National Press Photographers Association’s Crystal Eagle Award in 1994, won the Newspaper Photographer of the Year title in 1995, and the Pulitzer Prize in 1990.
