DURHAM, NC (February 6, 2013) – Checks are going out this week to the recipients of relief funds from the NPPA/NPPF Hurricane Sandy Fund, Frank Folwell announced today.
The National Press Photographers Foundation, along with the National Press Photographers Association, established the relief fund in November 2012 in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in order to be able to help photojournalists whose homes and vehicles were damaged or destroyed.
Folwell, NPPF's treasurer, said today that $542 will be sent to each of the seven recipients, representing an equal distribution of all funds collected. He said that if any future donations are received, a one-seventh share will once again be sent to each recipient.
The recipients were selected by the relief fund's committee, photojournalists Kainaz Amaria, Yunghi Kim, and Todd Maisel.
