"You can't care about something until you know it," Mike Bolinder, Anacostia Riverkeeper. Once the pride of Washington D.C. the Anacostia River is now one of the most polluted rivers in the nation. This series looks at the question of how we care about our water and the importance of engaging youth. These are children who are cleaning up the Anacostia today and the ones who will care tomorrow. The pollution is too dangerous to have direct contact with so the subjects were photographed through the water, symbolically submerged.
