DURHAM, NC (April 1, 2013) – The Los Angeles Times has won NPPA’s Best Use of Photography Quarterly Clip Contest, chairperson Mark Edelson announced today.
The Virginian-Pilot placed second and the The Washington Post was third.
Other papers that earned recognition during the year included The Columbia Missourian, The Commercial Appeal, The Denver Post, The Palm Beach Post, The Record, The Register-Mail, The Review Atlas, and The Tampa Bay Times.
Over the course of the year five categories of usage were judged quarterly, with points assigned for each winning page. Entries were judged at universities and newspapers.
Fourth quarter winners will be posted soon, Edelson said.
The contest, which since its inception has required original pages to be submitted for judging, will go digital this year. Information on how to enter will be posted before the April 15, 2013, deadline for first quarter entries.
