Never let up. Always be thinking one step ahead. Will the action be the moment, or the reaction? Follow your subject until they leave your view. You never know when the best image will happen, shoot them all.
Bill Frakes is a staff photographer for Sports Illustrated. He was part of the staff of the Miami Herald that won a Pulitzer for their coverage of Hurricane Andrew in 1992. His photographs have also been recognized by the Overseas Press Club, Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Awards and World Press Photo, where he also served as the Sports Jury Chair in 2013.
