Gary Hershorn’s career began with United Press International in 1979 in Toronto, Canada. He started working with Reuters in 1985 as Chief Photographer, Canada when Reuters purchased the foreign service of UPI.
During his 29-year career with Reuters, he worked as a photographer in Toronto, Senior Photograph in Washington, DC, Picture Editor-Americas and Global Sports Pictures Editor.
As a photographer, Hershorn has covered 17 Olympic games, 24 Masters Golf tournaments, 24 Academy Awards, Super Bowl’s, World Series, Stanley Cup’s, World Cup’s and major news events.
After leaving Reuters in 2014 he worked for the app Flipboard and now freelances in NYC. Assignments in 2016 have included, Wimbledon, the Rio2016 Olymics and the US Open Tennis Championship. He also continues to work on a personal project documenting the every changing skyline of New York City using social media platforms to share the photos.
