Jeffrey Allred has spent 27 years as a photojournalist for the Deseret News and the Salt Lake Tribune. He also is freelancer for the NY Times and USA Today. Some of his recent stories of note include the covering the Haiti earthquake in January 2010, the 2009 Sugar Bowl, a Mexican immigration series in 2008, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002. Some of Allred's awards include Society of Professional Journalists Top of the Rockies first place for Haiti Spot News coverage and Associated Press Utah Idaho Spokane Photographer of the Year for 2010. Allred also won the Photo of the Year by the Associated Press Managing Editors for 2008 for a photograph of troops deploying to Iraq.
Allred has a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Utah State University and teaches photojournalism at Brigham Young University.
