Cassi Alexandra is an independent documentary and portrait photographer, based in Brooklyn, New York. My focus is on healing—going into communities, and telling their most intimate stories. My last two projects were focused on Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida and Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. Born and raised in Florida, I majored in Photography at the Southeast Center for Photographic Studies and The University of Central Florida. I began my career as an intern at The Orlando Sentinel in 2009 and soon after, I became a contributor for The New York Times, reporting on politics. My work has been published in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, NPR, The Los Angeles Times, Marie Claire and The New York Times.
