Erik Trautmann is an award winning photojournalist who has been working in Fairfield County, Connecticut for the past thirty years. Early in his career Erik honed his craft by mastering the art of black and white photography. His strong eye for composition made him an early stand out, winning recognition in Photographer's Forum Magazine's annual college competition 3 years in a row. After completing his training at the Center For Media Arts in NYC in commercial photography, Erik spent time assisting some of the industry's leading fashion and portrait photographers. Erik was trained by the best while beginning his photography career in the darkrooms of New York City's New School of Social Research and studying photojournalism with accomplished Associated Press photographers. He went on to intern with Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist E. Ross Baumann at IVI / Visions Photo Agency in NYC.
Erik began his career freelancing for Connecticut magazines and newspapers including the Connecticut Post, where he was later hired as a staff photographer to work for their weeklies division. His photographs continued to be featured in other publications including newspapers like the Boston Globe and renowned magazines like Vanity Fair. Erik has continued to work in journalism as chief photographer for another Connecticut daily newspaper located in Fairfield County, The Hour.
