Casey Atkins was born in the United States and spent her early years on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. She has subsequently lived half her life overseas in a variety of different countries from Peru to Germany to China. In 2008 she graduated from Jacobs University Bremen with a B.A. in Integrated Social Sciences. In the spring of 2010, Casey completed her masters degree in photojournalism at Boston University. She subsequently worked as a member of the marketing and communications team at the BU School of Law and taught as a lecturer at the College of Communications while maintaining her freelance photography business.
In 2015, Casey began traveling to Nicaragua to work with women. She was inspired by her experiences there and returned each year, eventually working with a friend to found a nonprofit dedicated to teaching business skills to low-income women.
Casey currently works as a multimedia strategist for the Campaign Legal Center in Washington D.C. She helps tell the organization's stories through photography, video and graphic design.
