An Iowa native, I studied German and Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Iowa, joining The Daily Iowan newspaper staff as a photo intern. After graduating, I to Berlin, Germany to teach English on a Fulbright Fellowship. After three years of living abroad and freelancing I returned to the U.S. for graduate school in photojournalism at Ohio University. I have worked as the staff photographer for the State Department's Study of the U.S. Institute on Media and Journalism (2011) and interned (2012) at the Potsdamer Neueste Nachrichten, the newspaper of Brandenburg, Germany's capital city. Most recently I worked as the staff photographer/videographer and designer for OU's Russ College of Communication and Technology, where I covered a community of engineers, scientists and students and learned more about current research and innovation in the world of engineering and technology. Currently I'm back in Iowa covering the events leading up to the state's first-in-the-nation caucus in 2016. If you're looking for coverage in Iowa or the Midwest, I'd love to hear from you!
