Rick Rickman is a Pulitzer Prize recipient who has 33 years of photographic experience. Rickman spent the first 12 years of his career working in the newspaper industry at the Colorado Springs Sun, The Des Moines Register, and the Orange County Register.
Rickman left the newspaper industry in 1989 and became a freelance photographer working for most of the major magazines world-wide. Rickman has had 7 covers of TIME, 5 covers of Newsweek, and his project and documentary works have appeared in renown publications such as National Geographic, Life, Sports Illustrated, and Smithsonian.
Rickman's advertising and corporate client list include great names such as, Gillette, United, Nikon, AT&T, Yonnex, KSwiss, Haagan Daz, Adidas, Kelloggs, and Fidelity.
Rickman's work has been exhibited in major traveling galleries with the Smithsonian Museum, in Perpignon's Visa Del Oro and in Japan in the Curltural Centers of Tokyo and Nagoya.
Rickman has travelled the world covering Olympic competitions, wars and political upheavals, as well as multiplicities of book projects. Rickman continues to actively pursue freelance endeavors and is currently engaged in a new book project involving disappearing Americana.
Rick Rickman joined the faculty of Brooks Institute of Photography in 2004 and became the co-interim director of the Visual Journalism program in 2007. Rickman believes that giving back is the duty of every professional and he thrives on the enthusiasm of his charges and the challenges education of young minds has to offer.
