Photographer, Allegra Boverman Photography
I've been an award-winning photojournalist focusing on community journalism in the north of Boston vicinity including southern New Hampshire, and the Merrimack Valley and Cape Ann areas, both in Massachusetts, since 2004. Most recently, as of Fall 2013, I was photo chief at the Gloucester Daily Times and Cape Ann Magazine, part of the Eagle-Tribune/North of Boston Media Group family of publications.
I now run my own photo business full-time, working with area news organizations including public radio, some area newspapers, colleges and universities, businesses and individuals.
I also worked in the Philadelphia area in the early 2000s as a freelance photographer working with universities and museums. I worked in upstate New York as a student photo editor at my college's weekly paper, and staff photographer at daily newspapers throughout the 1990s - from western New York's Rochester, then Cortland and the Oneonta/ Cooperstown areas of Central New York and the upper Catskills mountains.
I've been taking photos since I was a child, with photographer parents, working in newsrooms of some kind since the age of 12.
