Brittany Murphy

Photographer, Brittany Kirstin Photography

San Francisco , California , United States

Photography has been a driving force in Brittany Murphy's life since early childhood. A photography trip to Peru during university taught her the power her camera has to peek into other cultures, and since then she has aimed her lens at sites, lifestyles and wildlife on four continents. But whether it's a Costa Rican jaguar or a three dollar toothbrush, it is Brittany's focus on the unique formative details of each subject that sets her images apart. Her portfolios have ranged from demonstrating various concepts of dance and art to utilizing light and form to render everyday objects in entirely new ways.

Brittany's work has been featured in many juried and unjuried exhibitions. Among her awards are a silver award and an honorable mention in COLOR Magazine's 2011 Single Image Competition and a Finalist placement in the Photographers Forum International College Competition. She has been published in The Best of College Photography and COLOR Magazine's Special Issue #13. Though Brittany has ventured far into the worlds of both artistic and commercial photography, documentary photography remains her first and greatest love. Between pursuing her own documentary projects, Brittany does freelance documentary work for various non-profit organizations. Most recently she documented wildlife habitat restoration projects in New Zealand with the non-profit organization Project Twin Streams: Glen Eden, and Vision West.
