Brian Munoz is a visual journalist based in southern Illinois as well as St. Louis, Missouri. Munoz is currently earning degrees in Journalism, with an emphasis in photojournalism and Spanish from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

He served as the 2017-2018 Photography and Multimedia Editor at the Daily Egyptian, SIU’s century-old student publication as well as the president for the university’s National Press Photographers Association student chapter.

Driven by his passion for journalism and storytelling, Munoz started his first newspaper in fourth grade at his elementary school in Collinsville, Illinois and has chased the next story ever since.

Munoz’s work has appeared in several newspapers, magazines and broadcast networks. His work has been recognized by the Illinois College Press Association and has been named a finalist in the Photo Excellence awards sponsored by the Associated College Press.

Munoz is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists as well as the National Press Photographers Association. He is an alumni of the The Image Deconstructed Workshop and the Poynter Drone Journalism Institute.
