Owner, Ian Stewart Photography
Hi, I’m Ian Stewart. I’m a photographer based in Rochester, NY. I started Ian Stewart photography in August 2013.
started taking pictures when I was ten years old. I had a 4 megapixel, full auto Olympus point-and-shoot. I didn't know what I was doing, but I loved taking pictures and seeing my family's reactions to my photos.
Since then, I have amassed better equipment, although I started Ian Stewart Photography with a Nikon D3200 and a 35mm lens, and that was my setup for many of my shows and all of my portraits. Check out my Gear Guide for more detailed information on my main working gear.
I took my first live photo (other than a cell phone photo) in a small bar, The Bug Jar, where I broke pretty much every rule of live music photography. I used flash, shot for the whole gig, and used a lens that could, at it's best, get to ƒ/4, but I knew the band & had a lot of fun. Since then, I’ve shot tens of thousands of photos & have had the pleasure to work personally with bands such as The Venetia Fair, Aminal, Breathe till Dawn, and Yip Deceiver, as well as shooting many local bands at venues around town.
I love meeting new people, and this business has introduced me to so many great people (and bands) that I would not have known about otherwise.
If you or your band would like to work with me, shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or use the "Contact Me" tab on my website, and I’m sure we can work something out!
